When I saw this painting at the State Hermitage Museum, St. Peterburg, my eyes were caught by the sad eyes of the dog. I was stunned at the painter who could deliver the sadness of the dog from its eyes. And actually the dog just presented the Dutch painter, Paulus Potter, himself (1625-1654). He died so young.

(I tried to take a shot of the complete picutre, but it didn't work out successfully. And this shot was just a close-up of the dog's eyes.)
