I saw the two Chinese characters "忠孝" in a Japanese museum, and these two words just made me smile as they were exactly what my mom used to teach me in my childhood. 忠 means being loyal and truthful to one's country, friends, family, employers and even more; 孝 means paying filial piety to one's parents, grandparents and even the elders. My mom has been a model and example of the two words throughout her life, as for me...I am not sure about myself. |
